One might think that leadership and management are related but they are wholly different entities. Leadership talks about leading people in a direction they want to trudge as they could not have made this effort alone. It is not necessary that the leader has to be a manager whereas a manager can be an effective leader at the same time. Manager is the one who steers and controls a business and people in an organization. It is not an easy task to be a leader because a good blend of knowledge, experience and techniques is required by the leader to create an affirmative platform for individuals to bloom their talents and guide them towards the best path to trudge. One cannot negate the fact that an individual can be either a leader or a manager or he or she can be both. The individuals who are leaders as well as managers, although have their management jobs but have the realization that they cannot buy hearts especially when there are difficult levels which their subordinates are facing, so they act as leaders too. Managers by definition have subordinates or people who report to them and have the right to exercise certain degree of authority over them which is given by the organizational policies. They is more work centered as they are paid to get things done by the staff under them. Leaders have followers not subordinates and these followers are involved in this activity voluntarily. They have a charismatic and transformational style which inspires the individuals to follow their footsteps. They have the ability to attract droves and droves of people to their cause. They have the art of persuasion and can transform individuals who follow them. Leaders give credit to individuals and encourage them very effectively which creates a strong bond between the leader and the follower and sense of loyalty is also developed. The leaders pay attention to the tasks of their followers and even in most of the cases makes a solution seeing the different set of needs and requirements. When talking about the difference between the manager and a leader it is always noted that it is the style and the attitude towards people and work that makes them different from each other. It is believed that managers as compared to leaders are risk averse whereas leaders are regarded as risk takers so as to get effective results holistically.
